Who is Sharon Oliensis?

Sharon Oliensis has dedicated over 40 years to the study and practice of movement as a path to healing, learning, and connection. She brings together her background as a dancer, teacher, and somatic practitioner with a deep respect for the intelligence of the body and the resilience of the human spirit.

Raised in Wisconsin, New Jersey, and Africa, Sharon’s life has always been shaped by diverse cultures and rhythms. After studying at Macalester College, she moved to New York City, where she danced, choreographed, and taught before discovering the Feldenkrais Method® and Anat Baniel Method NeuroMovement®. These approaches became the foundation of her work, allowing her to support children with special needs, adults living with pain, and people seeking greater presence and ease.

Sharon’s studies extend beyond Feldenkrais and ABM to include Chi Gung, Tai Chi, Shiatsu, and Jin Shin Jyutsu. She has taught and performed with Instructional Dance Theatre and Menagerie Dance Company, brought creative movement programs to public schools through Title IV initiatives, and served as an artist-in-residence at Tompkins Square Library in NYC.

For nearly two decades, Sharon has also shared her work internationally, teaching and supporting children and adults in the U.S., London, Denmark, Turkey, and Norway. She continues to create spaces where movement becomes a way to connect more deeply with oneself and with others.
